Power IC Nokia Mobile

POWER IC

Types of Power IC used in NOKIA MOBILE.

1. DCT3 – CCONT (CURRENT CONTROLLER)
2. DCT4 – UEM (UNIVERSAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT)
3. WD2 – UEM (UNIVERSAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT)
4. BB5 – THAVO (For Charging)
RETU (For Power IC)

BETTY (For Charging)
AVILMA (For Power IC)

Work of Power IC

The Main Function of Power IC is used to Distribute Voltage to each and every Component. It distribute Voltage such as 1.4V / 1.8V / 2.8V / 1.2V etc.

But now a days POWER IC is a Combination of three IC
a. AUDIO IC (For Audio Section Such as Speaker and Mic)
b. POWER IC (For Voltage Supply)
c. CHARGING IC (For Charging)
Those Power IC are knows as UEM (UNIVERSAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT)

Connections of different Components with Power IC.

a. Power Switch Connection Comes out from Power IC
b. Real Time Clock (RTC) 32.768 KHz is connected to Power IC to Supply Sleep
Clock.
c. It supplies different Voltage to different Section of Mobile Phone such as
Network Section, Display Section, Light Section, Bluetooth Section etc.
d. As the AUDIO Section is Build in Power IC (UEM / RETU / AVILMA) so the
Speaker, Ringer, Mic Connections Comes out from it.
e. As the AUDIO Section is Build in Power IC (UEM / RETU / AVILMA) so the Hands
free Connection Comes out from it.
f. As the CHARGING Section is Build in Power IC (UEM / THAVO / BETTY) so the
Total Charging Process is controlled by it.
g. Power IC is also Connected with CPU to Supply Voltage Such as VCORE Voltage
and to send DATA to CPU by using C BUS (CONTROL BUS) and D BUS (DATA BUS).
h. SIM Section is connected to Power IC.
i. Connection of Vibrate Motor is connected to Power IC.
j. Signal (KD LIGHT) to Switch on the Light IC using PWM (Pulse Width
Modulation) comes from Power IC.

VOLTAGE FROM POWER IC TO DIFFERENT SECTIONS

VOLTAGE NAME VOLTAGE USES

V CORE 1.0V AND 1.8V TO CPU (UPP & RAP)
VANA 2.5V BTEMP AND VCXO
VIO 1.8V I / O Logic Such as Flash IC, MMC, IRDA, Bluetooth
VFLASH1 2.8V IRDA, Bluetooth, LED Driver, BSI, etc
VFLASH2/VAUX 2.8V FM Radio and Accessories
VSIM 1 1.8V AND 3.0V SIM CARD

CHARGING SECTION

Components used in Charging Section of Mobile Phone
1. Fuse
2. Coil
3. Zener Diode
4. P.F.
5. Charging IC / Power IC
6. CTR (R22 / 0 / .22)

CTR – Charging Test Resistor (It Sense Battery Charging Voltage) Value – R22/ .22/ 0

BSI – (BATTERY STATUS INDICATOR / BATTERY SIZE INDICATOR)
This is a special pin in the battery which tells how much current in given to the battery to be perfectly charging. Inside the casing of the Battery Special Components are connected to BSI Track. It contains RT Resistor which heats the battery during Charging.

TEMP – This pin tell the battery Temperature. If B Temp Components 47k Resistor is Damaged then “CHARGER NOT SUPPORTED” Fault will come.

FAULTS

1. NOT CHARGING
a. Check Charging Tip, if Short
b. Check Charging Connector
c. Remove Zener Diode
d. Resold / Replace CTR
e. Check the Voltage in Battery Connector by inserting Charger it should in
between 1.5 V to 3.8 V.
f. Remove BSI Track PF.
g. Check Charger Voltage it should in between 5.0 V to 6.5 V.
h. Full Flash the Mobile Phone.
i. Check with Original Battery.

2. NO CHARGING or NO CHARGING RESPONSE

a. Check Charger Output Voltage
b. Check Charging Connector
c. Check Fuse
d. Check Charging Tip, if Short
e. Check Track from Charging Connector to PF.
f. Check Charging Connector in Put Voltage
g. Check Power IC output Voltage in before and after CTR, if NO Voltage found then Resold / Reball Charging IC.
h. If Voltage difference is found in before and after CTR the change CTR.
i. Check Voltage in Battery Connector by inserting Charger, in no voltage found then put a jumper from Battery +VE to CTR.

3. CHARGER NOT SUPPORTED

a. Replace 47K Thermistor in Btemp Track.

MOBILE PHONE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

MOBILE PHONE HARDWARE
1. POWER SUPPLY SECTION
Mobile Phone is an electronics device, to run any electronics device, “Power Supply” is necessary. Power Supply section of Mobile Phone is:-

a.BATTERY
b.CHARGER
c.BACK OFF BATTERY
b.MMI SECTION – MMI SECTION OR (Main Machine Interface) are basically used to transfer the user data to Motherboard and Motherboard data to User Data.
Example: Keypad, Display, Speaker, Camera etc.

2. MOTHERBOARD – It the Backbone of Mobile Phone. It is a Multilayer Printed Circuit Board (PCB).
That controls all the MMI Component of a Mobile Phone. It contains many electronics components like Resistors, capacitors, diode, transistors, IC, etc.

MOBILE PHONE SOFTWARE

It is a set of program me that start or boot the mobile phone and enable it the Hardware Component to run.
1. PHONE OPERATING SYSTEM – that boot or start to the Mobile Phone and enable it its entire hardware component to run. It is present in the memory IC of a Mobile Phone.
Ex. - Menu Option, Settings, Video Recording, Messaging etc.

2. DOWNLOADING SOFTWARE – Downloading Software allow transferring Ringtone, Sing tone, Video Clips, Image etc from Computer to Mobile Phone and Vice Versa. Through Data Cable or IRDA.

3. MULTIMEDIA SOFTWARE – With this Software we can create Ringtone, Sing tone, Image, Video Clips for Mobile Phone.

4. SERVICE OR REPAIRING SOFTWARE – when any fault arises in the Phone Operating Software like SimLock, Keypad Lock, Network Lock or Contact Service, Phone Hang that we have to repair it through Service or Repairing Software.
Ex:- J.A.F., UNIVERSAL FLASHER BOX, UFS 3, SPIDERMAN, INFINITY
